Temple upset by UMass

The Temple Owls were upset by the Massachusetts Minutemen 77-71 in their first game of the A-10 conference tournament. Chaz Williams led the Minutemen with 20 points and 10 assists.

Costly turnovers hurt the Owls throughout the game and UMass was able to capitalize on the mistakes. The Minutemen opened the second half with a 15-0 run and it took Temple five minutes to score their first points of the second half. Ramone Moore led the Owls with 14 points and five rebounds and Khalif Wyatt had 15 points.

UMass will play the winner of the St. Joes/St. Bonaventure game. Temple will be in the big tournament without question. They will have to wait until Sunday to find out what seed they will be. Some experts have Temple projected as high as a fourth seed but this loss will likely push them down to a five or six seed.
