Manuel announces lineup for Phillies first exhibition game

With the Phillies set to play their first exhibition game Wednesday against Florida State, manager Charlie Manuel unveiled his lineup card this afternoon. Manuel plans to rest veterans such as Chase Utley and Placido Polanco in an attempt to lighten the spring workload.

John Mayberry Jr. will start at first base and Domonic Brown will get the start in left field, hoping to start the season on the big league roster. Newly acquired utility man Ty Wigginton will start at third base with Polanco receiving the day off.

Don’t expect to see any of the Phillies aces in a game like this, as right-hander Austin Hyatt will get the start for the Phillies.

The game is scheduled for a 1:05 PM start on Wednesday. On Saturday, the Phillies will kick off their Grapefruit League season against the New York Yankees at home.
