Temple clinches part of A-10 title


The Owls clinched a share of the Atlantic 10 division championship with an overtime victory over Massachusetts 90-88. The impressive win came on Temple’s senior night.

With a 10 point lead and under three minutes to go, many thought Temple had the game put away. Massachusetts charged back and tied the game, sending it into overtime. Chaz Williams gave Massachusetts a chance with 26 points and 11 assists.

Khalif Wyatt scored 26 points and scored the final basket that the Owls needed to outlast a determined Massachusetts team. Juan Fernandez added 18 points and Micheal Eric scored 19 points in their last game at the Liacouras Center.

With a victory over Fordham on Saturday, Temple will clinch the A-10 regular season championship because the hold the tiebreaker over Saint Louis. The game will be played at Fordham at 4:00 PM, and will be the last game for the Owls before the start of the A-10 tournament.
